ARtsway 2021

ARtsway is a mural mentorship program for high school students, launched in 2021.

Students learn from a professional muralist, paint their own mobile mural, and help create a permanent mural in their neighborhood! AND they help bring the mural to life using augmented reality!

ARtsway is a collaborative program between 934 Gallery, Franklinton Arts District, Hilltop Arts Collective, and Maroon Arts Group. Each organization is responsible for hosting its own “camp” in its neighborhood, and selecting its camp’s professional muralist artist instructor.

The “AR” in ARtsway is capitalized to reflect the program’s augmented reality (AR) component.

Hilltop Camp Instructor

Luka Weinberger

Luka Weinberger is a muralist and tattoo artist at Evolved Body Art with a classical drawing/painting education from Laguna College of Art + Design. When they were little, Luka wanted to be a veterinarian, marine biologist, medical/scientific illustrator, and forensic pathologist. They have since managed to merge their simultaneous interests in organic creatures, drawing, various causes, and science into a career in art for people on a public and personal level. Luka was inspired to quit entertainment design and become a muralist after visiting Germany for the first time and saw the Berlin Wall covered in paintings.

Luka recently moved to Columbus to set down some roots after living in Southern California for over a decade. In their spare time, Luka likes to feed the sting rays at the Columbus Zoo.
